everyPLM uses the STEP PLCS standard (ISO 10303-239) as a canonical model to integrate heterogeneous proprietary tools and to enable collaboration between the users of these tools.

Lower the cost to integrate

Tools integration is generally solved by adopting a one-to-one integration scheme. In this scheme, tools are integrated by individually patching them so they work with each of the other ones. Given N tools to integrate, N*(N-1) adaptors are needed for such integration. Usually, these integrations do not include collaboration functionalities, e.g., functionalities that allow to differently manage branches of the product structure depending on the owner of the branches, or functionalities that allow approving a data exchange before it happens.

With everyPLM, the PLCS standard is used as canonical model, so once the adaptor of a tool to/from PLCS has been built, that adaptor can be used to integrate all the other tools. Moreover everyPLM provides collaboration functionalities.

Lower the cost to maintain the integration
Each application is rarely static and it changes over time. Behind the live cost of the implementation of the adaptors, there is also the hidden cost of their maintenance. Every time an internal application is personalized, its adaptors need to be updated. With everyPLM, each application has only one adaptor, therefore the cost of its maintenance is lower than in the case of a one-to-one integration. Moreover the maintenance of the adaptors is facilitated by the mapping functionalities provided by everyPLM.
Anticipate future costs
By using standards in a flexible centralized architecture, everyPLM supports future integrations. When your company will require future integration and migrations, the deployment of one adaptor will be enough. This adaptor will manage the mappings between the integrated application data model and the standard data model. The applications previously integrated with everyPLM will then be able to communicate seamlessly with the newly integrated application without additional effort.
Communicate with your supply chain
everyPLM can be used as a standard way to exchange product information with the partners, customers and suppliers. At the moment, this exchange is usually customized and dependent on the applications used by your company and its partners, customers and suppliers. With everyPLM, the exchange might be standard-based, so the effort needed to implement it will be close to zero. In fact, within the functionalities of everyPLM there is the possibility of producing and reading standard the files to be exchanged.
Archive for long term preservation
Long term archiving of your product data might be critical for data reuse and/or certification. The archival system must be based on international standards, so that the files contained in it can be read in the next 20, 50 or 100 years. everyPLM enables to write and read the files that can be injected into the archival system.
Implement step-by-step
Through everyPLM the standard-based approach can be gradually implemented, by taking into account an initial set of use cases, with an initial set of tools to integrate, and by extending them later.
Implement in parallel teams
everyPLM allows the integration team to work in parallel on the tools that need to be integrated. Once the requirements are established, people working on a single application are able to work independently from people working on the other applications. This saves time and money in terms of collaboration effort and project duration.
